Our caring father died very peacefully at home on 23 February 2012. Near to the end, he enjoyed a week-long visit with family from Vancouver and the Netherlands. He was 83. Father of Douglas (Elizabeth Ainslie), Catharine, and Martine. Opa to Jessica, Rachel, Gillian, Carolyn, Adam and Lauren. Husband of 46 years to his late wife Suzanne (nee Croft). Brother to Ans and Betty. Oom Jaap to distant family. Friend and colleague to many at the University of Toronto Institute for Aerospace Studies. Recent companion of Jeanine Scholaert. In celebration of Jaap’s life, the family will receive friends and colleagues at R. S. Kane Funeral Home, 6150 Yonge Street North York on Sunday March 11, 2012 from 1 to 4pm. In lieu of flowers, a donation to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
