Life Story for Rose Cecilia Gansemer (Gaul)

Rose C. Gansemer, 77, of Manchester, passed away Monday, December 3, 2012 at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 am, Friday, December 7, 2012 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Manchester. Visitation will be Thursday, December 6, 2012 from 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm; with a 3:00 pm Rosary Service by St. Mary’s Catholic Daughters and a 7:00 pm Scripture Service at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Manchester. Additional visitation, one hour prior to services at the Church on Friday. Burial will be in St. Mary Catholic Church in Manchester.
Rose was born June 15, 1935 in Luxemburg, the daughter of Nicholas and Anna (Naber) Gaul. She attended St. Joseph’s School in Prairieburg and St. Francis Xavier in Dyersville. Rose worked in a laundromat in Dubuque for four years. On June 15, 1959, she was united in marriage to Alfred Gansemer. The couple farmed near Peosta for five years before moving to Manchester. Rose cooked at a restaurant and later worked at Wal-Mart.
Rose was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Manchester, and the Catholic Daughters. She was a Chaplain for the V.F. W. Auxiliary #66 and #37 of Manchester. She loved her family and enjoyed sewing, making crafts, and working in her garden.
Rose is survived by six children, William “Bill” Gansemer and John (Diane) Gansemer both of Mason City, Charles Gansemer of Monona, Deanne (Paul) Booth of Davenport, Susan Gansemer of Cedar Rapids, and Mary Gansemer of Coralville; one granddaughter, Cecilia Booth; five sisters, Gwen (Carl) Healey and Ruth (Darel) Hilken both of Dubuque, Pearl Schaefers of Guttenberg, Mary Lou (Ivan) Meyers of Bellevue, NE and Julianne (Clark) Bradley of Marion; five brothers, Les (Debbie) Gaul of Ether, MO, Karl Gaul of Worthington, Cyril (Paula) Gaul of Schaumburg, IL, and Mark (Mary) Gaul of Worthington; and a sister-in-law, Cheryl Gaul of Worthington.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Leon Gaul, and Bernard Gaul.
A memorial fund has been established in Rose’s name.
