Obituary for
Arthur Millard Creamer
Arthur M. Creamer, 91, passed away peacefully at the Togus VA Medical Center on Thursday December 13, 2012. He was born on October 19, 1921 in Waldoboro the son of the late Millard and Lillian Roscoe Creamer.
Arthur served his country in the US Army during World War 2 and was a proud member of the VFW Post 4525 located in Waldoboro. Arthur had many interests in his life and a big interest was that of fishing. He enjoyed fishing both fresh and salt water. He always spent a lot of time smelting; some say he had a natural knack for it because people would often be left wondering how he was able to catch so many smelts. He spent many years as the Fish Warden and would help the alewives come up the river and over the rocks. He also spent some time as the Harbor Master in town as well as occupying the role of town constable. He was also a lobster fisherman for many years and was able to fish with his father and later on with his sons. He was very visible at town meetings and made sure that if he had an opinion it was heard. Some even said that he was the life of the meetings.
He was a member of the St. Paul Community Center on Dutchneck. He also raised laying hens for years. He enjoyed hunting and bowling at Depatsy Lanes and playing cards. Most of all he loved the family gatherings and clamming. He and his wife also were able to work alongside each other for about 10 years as the two picked crab meat together.
