Mrs. Ruth N. Estes, age 91, of Madison, passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at the Waters of Clifty Falls in Madison, Indiana. Born January 23, 1921, she was the daughter of Warren and Bessi Murray McDowell.



While living in Madison, Mrs. Estes worked at the U.S. Shoe Corporation of Madison for about 35 years as an inspector.



Survivors include three sons, John T. Estes Jr. of Madison, James Estes of Madison, and Ralph Lee Estes, of Madison; four daughters: Ruth Ann McFarland of Madison, Mary Rowlett of Madison, Sue Estes of Madison, and Chevel Canfield of Madison; one sister, Vivian Kelly of Madison; eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and two great great-grandchildren.



She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John T. Estes whom she married in 1938; one infant daughter: Jaunita Jean Estes; two sisters: Anna Laughderbaugh and Melvina McDowell; three brothers: Robert McDowell, Harrison McDowell, and George McDowell.
