Sweet memories of Grandma

Grandma...I will miss you soooo much.  I will miss hearing your voice most of all.  I hope I will never forget the sound of your voice.  I will miss you saying in your cute southern drawl, "Kelly is that you?"   As a woman,  I will miss our little conversations over the phone.  I would always call you when I was troubled and could count on you for sound advice and guidance.  As a child, I remember how you would put books on our heads to teach us not to slouch and to walk like ladies.  It worked I think.  I remember us girls converting your basement into a haunted house and charging kids in the neighborhood 25 cents to enter.  You didn't seem to mind.  Actually, you were our first customer. I loved how comforting it felt to know as a kid,  I could ride my bike down to your house and would always feel welcome.  I was probably there every day when we lived down the street from you. Again, you didn't seem to mind.  There is just something about always feeling welcome at Grandma's house. I remember the radio always playing country music and you dancing around the house to it.  I will especially remember the song, Just a swinging. We had fun dancing and singing to that one.  I won't eat a cherry cordial or hard rock candy with out thinking of you Grandma.  I know how much you loved them.  Most importantly, I know that family was very important to you.  I also know now that you treasured every thing anyone gave you. I didn't realize that so much until just recently.  You saved every gift and card.  Saved every note and picture. You taught me that the little things in life are what counts in this world and that family is the best gift of all.  I get it Grandma.  I am sorry it took me till now to figure it out, but I get it.  I love you Grandma. Sorry I was never great at telling you all the time like I should have.  Kelly
