Rafi Kaftarian was born on February 8, 1940 in Tehran, Iran. He immigrated to Canada, arriving at Truro, Nova Scotia on Thanksgiving weekend 1977, moving to Toronto, Ontario with his wife and first son shortly after. Rafi was grateful for everything that life had to offer and was proudest of his two children, Peter and Michael. An eternal optimist, Rafi fought a valiant battle with cancer which ended peacefully on Friday July 4, 2008. His two sons will always remember their Dad as a gifted storyteller, advocate for the importance of education, and lover of classical music.

Friends may visit at the R.S. Kane Funeral Home (6150 Yonge Street, at Goulding, south of Steeles) Saturday July 12, 2008 from 10 a.m. until time of memorial service at 11 o’clock.
