Obituary for Lawrence GENE Pauley

Surry, VA

Lawrence 鈥淕ene鈥 Pauley, 66, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2016. Born in Lincoln Co, West Virginia, Gene was the son of the late Miriam Holley and Earl Pauley. He had lived in Newport News and Hampton since 1972 and had lived in Surry, VA since 1990. Gene was a nuclear crane operator at Newport News Shipbuilding, retiring, January 2014, after 42 years of service.

An Army veteran, was stationed in Hawaii as a Field Artillery trainer. During the 1980鈥檚, he was the lead rhythm guitarist for the Silver Eagle Band. He was an avid outdoorsman and passionate fisherman and hunter. He also enjoyed volunteering at Chippokes State Park.

In addition to his parents, Gene is preceded in death by a daughter, Crystal Pauley and a granddaughter, Jessica Pauley. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 21 years, Patricia 鈥淧atty鈥 Pauley; three daughters, Meriam Bailey (Jeffery), Anna Appel (Gary), Marilyn Howell, and Chasity Henderson (Craig); 7 grandsons and 3 granddaughters; 1 great-grandchild; brother, Earl 鈥淏utch鈥 Pauley (Judy); and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Family and friends will gather, 6-8 pm, Monday, December 26, 2016, for visitation in Colonial Funeral Home. A graveside funeral service will be held 1:00 pm, Tuesday, December 27, 2016, in Peninsula Memorial Park with Rev. Paul Harfst officiating.
