Bonnie Booth
Dear Susan,
May sincere condolences on your loss of Tom. I am truly sorry.
In my sympathy, I thank God for the joy you brought into Tom's life. In his e-mails to me the simple mention of your name spoke volumes. Whenever I invited him to a concert with the Ontario Philharmonic, I always received a gracious reply, "We would love to come but Susan and I rarely make the trip to Toronto these days."
While I never had the privilege of meeting Tom, not being able to drive myself, I did read most of his books and correspond with him periodically, first by hand written notes and then e-mails.
Tom greatly influenced my life, first through "The Pagan Christ", then "Finding the Still Point" and equally, "The Uncommon Touch", a book I gave as gifts to many friends.
Over the years I shared my insights with Tom. When I revealed my struggle with meditation, his simply words of advice continue to encourage me today, "keep at it".
Today, I thank God for the gift of Tom's life and how he touched my life in a profound way, helping me to explore and strengthen my faith in the Almighty. I also give thanks for you and the JOY you brought into his life, supporting him and helping him to reach others with his wisdom and powerful insights.
I would imagine his funeral is passed. However, I will light a candle and give thanks for Tom, his life well lived, and another for you, the light of his life, helping him to bring light into our darkness.
May God continue to strengthen you in the days ahead then bring you to peace in the knowledge and memories of your together ministry.
With my heartfelt gratitude and sympathy,
Bonnie
