Condolence: Thank you Tom, particularly for Born Again. You helped a long time searcher relax. Even my late Baptist husband loved your broadcasts. We were blessed to find you when we did.

Condolence: I have just read of Tom Harpur's passing. His books were both inspiring and comforting to me because of his ability to form theoretical bridges between empty dogma and meaningful spiritual significance. I will reread his books, appreciating again his wisdom and how it reached my heart and soul. My sincere condolences to his family and friends.

Condolence: I'm currently reading his book "Life After Death". It was the last book my late sister had in her possession when she died by suicide. I like to think that Thomas was with her, guiding her to the other side. I went looking for another of his books, only to discover that he had passed in January 2017! I had no idea, and am very saddened at this news. My condolences to his family & friends. His spirit will live on eternally in his many books & through all the lives he's touched.

Condolence: I just found out about Tom's passing yesterday, March 20th. His passing was a great shock. Tom will be greatly missed.

A few years ago I emailed someone I admired greatly. I emailed Tom, and to my delight he answered me. Twice! His book "The Pagan Christ" saved me from my dark night of the soul. My heartfelt thanks.

My deepest sympathy to you Susan, and to the entire Harpur family. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Condolence: To Tom's family,
My heart goes out to you all and know that our thoughts and prayers are with you on your present journey.
I first met Tom way back in 1960 at St Margarets- in-the-Pines.He so impressed me with his spirituality, honesty and sincerity. He has been a presence in my journey since then through his writing, a few communications and a conference. His consistent message for me has been it's ok to question, don't get bogged down in the details of dogma, theology or institution, but to search for the Source of Light, Power and Love in and around us moment by moment.I will be eternally grateful for his guiding light in my journey and I will miss his wisdom in our present day.
Blessings,
Mary Dove

Condolence:
Dear Susan,
You won't remember me, but we have met a couple of times over the years, and have a mutual friend in John Oldham.
Tom's books and his newspaper columns meant a great deal to me, and I would sometimes write or email him to tell him how much I appreciated a particular one.
Fourteen years ago I had written and told him that our daughter-in-law was dying from lymphoma, and would leave behind two young daughters for our son to raise alone. Tom replied with words of comfort and support. When Lisa did die, a good friend, unbeknownst to me, emailed Tom to tell him of our tragedy. Soon after, a beautiful card of sympathy arrived from Tom and you. I still have the card.
I just want to tell you how much Tom will be missed, and how greatly his writings added to my spiritual growth and understanding of life.
With sympathy,
Cathie McBride

Condolence: I was very saddened to learn of Mr. Harpur's death. In one reading of his book The Pagan Christ I was liberated from the nonsense of religious literalism; I remain very grateful to him for this gift. I've read the book three times, and also its sequel Water into Wine.
My condolences to all to whom he was dear especially his wife Susan.
I regret never having had the opportunity to meet the man I consider so brilliant.

Condolence: I was saddened to hear of the passing of Tom. Two decades ago, I wrote to Tom of Israel Shahak, a human rights activist, of whom he wrote two columns in the Toronto Star. I also met Tom in the cafeteria of the Star building on Yonge St. A true gentleman. May his memory be a blessing.

Condolence: Dear Susan,
May sincere condolences on your loss of Tom. I am truly sorry.

In my sympathy, I thank God for the joy you brought into Tom's life. In his e-mails to me the simple mention of your name spoke volumes. Whenever I invited him to a concert with the Ontario Philharmonic, I always received a gracious reply, "We would love to come but Susan and I rarely make the trip to Toronto these days."

While I never had the privilege of meeting Tom, not being able to drive myself, I did read most of his books and correspond with him periodically, first by hand written notes and then e-mails.

Tom greatly influenced my life, first through "The Pagan Christ", then "Finding the Still Point" and equally, "The Uncommon Touch", a book I gave as gifts to many friends.

Over the years I shared my insights with Tom. When I revealed my struggle with meditation, his simply words of advice continue to encourage me today, "keep at it".

Today, I thank God for the gift of Tom's life and how he touched my life in a profound way, helping me to explore and strengthen my faith in the Almighty. I also give thanks for you and the JOY you brought into his life, supporting him and helping him to reach others with his wisdom and powerful insights.

I would imagine his funeral is passed. However, I will light a candle and give thanks for Tom, his life well lived, and another for you, the light of his life, helping him to bring light into our darkness.

May God continue to strengthen you in the days ahead then bring you to peace in the knowledge and memories of your together ministry.

With my heartfelt gratitude and sympathy,
Bonnie
