Lori Lovgren Messer, 58 of Pt. Pleasant Beach died peacefully surrounded by her family on January 13, 2017 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune. Born in Long Branch, she had lived in Wall before moving to Pt Pleasant 6 months ago. Lori was a Clinical Nurse Specialist at Jersey Shore University Medical Center and was a member of the American Nurses Association and the National Association of Neonatal Nurses. She achieved her Doctor of Nurse Practice Degree at Walden University in 2016.

She was predeceased by her mother, Elvira Lovgren in 2006. Surviving are her husband of 36 years, Joseph Messer; her daughter Annie Messer; her father, Thomas C. Lovgren; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Thomas W. and Laura Lovgren; Kevin and Donna Lovgren; her aunt, Betty Jutus; her best friend and cousin, Kathy Ferencz; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jeff and Sherry Messer; her sisters-in-laws and brothers-in-law, Sharon and Bill Nastasi; Bev and Chip Taylor; Joanne and Peter Cahill; her special niece, Tracy Cahill; her nieces, nephews and cousins and a special thanks to Kim Aufiero, Melissa Harker, Cathy Colopoulos, Donna Ciufo and Ruthann Koscik.

A Visitation will be held on Monday, January 16 from 1pm until the time of the funeral service at 4:30 pm at the Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Ave.(corner of Third Ave.) in Long Branch. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2310 Highway 34, Suite 1D, Manasquan, NJ 08736.
