Florence Esther Zaichkin (Bergland)
Long time Tacoma resident Florence E. Zaichkin passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2009 in Aberdeen. She was born May 12, 1915 in Brady, Nebraska to John and Esther (Sunquist) Burgland.
At the age of three, Florence moved from Nebraska to Douglas, WY by covered wagon where she lived until she married Nicholas Zaichkin in 1935. They settled in Tacoma in 1941, where she worked at Days Tailoring and attended beauty school. She enjoyed bowling, sewing, reading and gardening. Later in life, she volunteered her talents to the Cancer Society in South Tacoma.
Florence is survived by her son Robert and wife Shirley of Grayland; her sister, Caroline of Douglas, WY; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Esther Burgland, her husband Nick, her son Joseph, her son David, her brother Alvin and her sisters Ethel and Opal.
Graveside prayer was performed by Pastor Ben Emmons at Mountain View Cemetery in Lakewood, WA.
