Condolence: I think I can speak for many men who grew up playing football in Berks County in the 60's, 70's & 80's. Coach Rudy taught us way much more than football...he taught us about growing up and becoming men. Please accept my sincere condolences. Pat Demers HNHS 78

Condolence: I was fortunate to know Coach Rudy from my days with Holy Name football from 1975-1978. He was respected by all who knew him. He was firm, fair and consistent. His dry sense of humor took some getting used to, but his wry smile let the team know that he had our back. My condolences to the entire Rudy Family.

Condolence From: John Muir
Condolence: Dear Mrs. Rudy and Family, Please accept my sincere condolences for the passing of Coach Rudy. I had the pleasure of playing for Coach Rudy for 3 years at Holy Name and an additional 3 years at Albright College. He was a stern and tough coach but I truly enjoyed his wit and passion. He expected our best and did his best to ensure we lived up to our potential. He made a lifelong impact on me and I am grateful for having him as a coach for 6 years. He is highly regarded by many of my former teammates who all have their favorite Coach Rudy story. I have many Coach Rudy stories that I have shared with my family. I recall last seeing Coach Rudy at the Exeter Athletic Hall of Fame ceremony a decade ago or so and I know he was not well. I have faith that Coach Rudy is at now at peace and I wish you and your family God's blessing. Regards, John

Condolence From: John Giardiello
Condolence: My condolences to Russ's family. I was a member of Holy Name's football team '69 to '71. Everyone called me Geo. One of Russ's favorite sayings during practice was "chop 'em out". At the time it meant, spread your legs and keep them pumping. It was a mantra I referred to many times in my life.; When things got tough, I would say to myself "chop 'em out Geo". Get your balance, get your legs moving and keep going forward. Just wanted to let you know that Russ left a profound impact on my life.
