Obituary for Alvin J. Hicks

Alvin J Hicks, 82 of Wall Township passed away peacefully at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune on Sunday February 5, 2017 with his devoted wife Jean and other beloved family members by his side. Born and raised in Wall Township, Alvin graduated from Manasquan High School before serving his country in the US Army. Al worked for the State of New Jersey Department of Education for over 25 years before retiring and working as a consultant in Student Transportation.

Al was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed his retirement spending time on his boat, camping in Vermont and wintering in Florida. When not camping, boating, or traveling, al and Jean could be found at the Manasquan Elks, the VFW, socializing with their many close friends and neighbors, or simply enjoying time together at the Manasquan inlet.

Alvin is predeceased by his brother George Hicks, his son Alvin J. Hicks Jr. and his step-son Donald Dombroski. He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years Jean (nee Whitley) Hicks, his step-son Stephen and wife Heidi Dombroski of Wall, his brother Ronald Hicks and his wife Harriet of Wall, his grandchildren Benjamin Dombroski and wife Laura and their daughter Claire of Georgia, his grandson David Dombroski and fiancé Maggie Nokes of Boston, MA, his brother-in-law Timothy Whitley and his wife Esther of Belmar, his sister-in-law Doris Whitley of Brick along with many loving nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Friday February 10 from 3-5 pm at Orender Family Home for Funerals 2643 Old Bridge Road Manasquan. A prayer service will begin at 4:30 pm.
