Obituary for James M Womack

James M  Womack
James M. Womack, 93, of Grayson passed away Monday, February 6, 2017 at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland. He was born February 6, 1924 in Hitchins, KY a son of the late Earl and Elizabeth Thomas Womack.

Jim was a graduate of Hitchins High School, and proudly served his country with the United States Army during WWII. Jim was very active in the Grayson community retiring from the original auto parts store in Grayson, he served on the Grayson City Council, the planning and zoning committee, he was one of the founding members of the Grayson Fire Department, past president of the Grayson Jaycees, past president of the Grayson Area Chamber of Commerce, past director of the Carter County Ambulance Service. He was a 67 year member of the Trimble Lodge #145 F&AM, El Hasa Shrine, Scottish Rite, and a member of the Maranatha Bible Church.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Rae Waggoner Womack; a daughter, Teresa Ann Stone; a son-in-law, Mark Stone; and a step- grandson, Johnathan Sparks.

He is survived by his wife, Minnie Boggs Sparks Womack; a son, James Chip (Pam) Womack of Ashland; a step-son, Harold (Karen) Sparks Jr. of Lexington, KY; a step-daughter, Randy Jenks of Bidwell, OH; five grandchildren, Travis (Erin) Womack, Ashley (Michael) Kasey, Keith (Holley) Stone, Clifford Martin (Lexi) Stone, and Sarah Stone; three step-grandchildren, Dani Michelle (Brynn) Moss, Michael (Hannah) Jenks, and Sarah Sparks; three great- grandchildren and six step-great grandchildren.
