Obituary for Evelyn M. Rota
Evelyn Mazza Rota, age 86 of Brick formerly of Long Branch, died Friday, February 10, 2017 at home. Born in Long Branch, she had lived the past 27 years in Brick. Evelyn was a registered nurse for over 40 years rising through the ranks to become the night supervising nurse at Monmouth Medical Center prior to being recruited to work on the coronary care unit when it first opened before retiring in 1988. She was a parishioner of Star of the Sea Church of Christ the King Parish in Long Branch.
Evelyn was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Alexander J. Rota in 2013. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Henry and Cilia Rota and 2 grandchildren, Alexa and Marc.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 14 from 4-8 pm at the Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Ave. (corner of Third Ave.,) in Long Branch. Funeral, Wednesday; 9 am from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 am at Star of the Sea Church in Long Branch. Interment will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, West Long Branch. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 400 Morris Ave., Suite 251, Denville, NJ 0873401365. The family invites you to write a letter of condolences, share a story or make a donation by selecting the appropriate tab.
