Obituary for Edwin Louis Spurgeon

Edwin (Eddie) Louis Spurgeon, 74, of Wortham, passed away at his residence on September 20, 2016. Visitation with the family present will be Thursday, September 22, 2016 at Porter Funeral Home in Mexia from 6-8 p.m. There will be no formal services.
Eddie was born January 10, 1942 in San Antonio, Texas. He loved Arabian horses and was an officer of Texas Arabian Distance Riders Association for over 20 years. He was involved in many equine organizations and helped establish LBJ Grasslands Equestrian Trails. Eddie was an avid NASCAR fan and known to all as a Jack of all Trades.
He was preceded in death by his son, Mark O’Neal Spurgeon and is survived by his wife, Linda Spurgeon of Wortham and daughter, Marianne Spurgeon Walker & husband Keith also of Wortham as well as many friends.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Gibbs Memorial Library in Mexia.
