The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Obituary for Phyllis Lucene Phelps


Phyllis Phelps (Hice) went to be with her Lord on Thursday March 16, 2017. She born on August 9, 1916 to Clark and Florence (Farre) Hice in Marcellus, MI. She was united in marriage to Leon Phelps in 1937. They began their married life in Mattawan before moving to the Phelps family farm where she spent the next 57 years of her life.
Phyllis enjoyed many kinds of crafts and was a well respected seamstress and talented china painter. Many of her pieces are displayed in area homes.
She was a member of the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Leon, her brother Frances Hice and his wife Dorothy, a sister Rosemary, and her husband Don Stickley.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She leaves to carry on her legacy her son Lee and his wife Kay, grandsons Larry (Dawn) Phelps, Buzz (Missy) Phelps, and Kurtis (Rachel) Phelps; great-grandsons Jacob, Justin, Andrew, Mark, Aaron, Micah, Stephen, and Adam, great-grand daughter Halle, and several nieces and nephews.
Her family would like to thank all of her care-givers at Bronson Commons for their care and kindness for the last several years.
Memorials may be directed to Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be from 10:00 – 11:00AM on Saturday, March 25, with a service to follow at Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church, Schoolcraft, MI.
