Barbara Ann Walker, 77, of Hanover PA, formerly of Southern MD, passed peacefully on Wednesday, March 15, 2017.

She was born May 9, 1939, in Washington, D.C., to the late James E. and Amelia Maize. Barbara was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She cherished time spent with family. Barbara spent many years as the primary caregiver to her grandchildren. She enjoyed doing crafts, sewing, and crocheting. In her retirement years, Barbara enjoyed every opportunity to go camping or to vacation at the beach with family. She was a member of the Hanover Red Hat Society.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband George Kirton, Sr., her second husband Donald Walker on January 19, 2009, and her first-born son James E. Kirton.

Barbara is survived by her children, G. Walter Kirton II and his wife, Alice of Annapolis MD, Katheryn Maloney and her boyfriend, John of Hanover PA, and Teresa Ireland of Myrtle Beach SC. Also survived by five grandchildren, Tiffany Kuhn, Pamela and Anthony Maloney, George Kirton III, and James Kirton; five great-grandchildren, Bryley, Chloe, Kaydence, Kaylynn, and Kassidy; a sister, Jeanne Humbert of Odenton MD, and many nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to celebrate Barbara's life on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 from 12 pm until a service begins at 1 pm at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD. Interment to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
