I remember standing at the counter many evenings with my father and younger brother at Tommy Smith's Gun Shop on Ihgrahams Hill in Owls Head as well as at the counter at H.H.Crie i Rockland listening. My father, Tommy's best friend at the time, was a regular at the gun shop as well as Cries wheeling, dealing and telling lies about hunting and fishing trips. Tommy helped my father, Frank Ross Jr, a Knox County deputy sheriff design and built a loader for 38 special pistol ammunition. As they finshed and perfected it my father was killed in the line of duty on the sheriffs dept. My mother donated the loader to the Knox County Sheriffs Dept so that they could save money loading their own ammo for target practice. I have talked to Tommy various times since 1959 startig one evenig when he called me ou of the blue and I had seen him a time or two when I was in Bangor picking up parts but I never had time to sit down and really reminisce with him and I'm sorry for that now.
