Obituary for James E. Stinson

James E.  Stinson
James E. Stinson, 64, of Mercersburg, passed away peacefully March 18, 2017, at his home.
Born July 6, 1952, at Chambersburg, he was a son of Olive A. Warsing Stinson of Chambersburg, and the late Luther D. Stinson.
Jim graduated from Waynesboro High School. Following graduation, he enlisted and served with the US Air Force during the Viet Nam War.
Jim began his career as an auto body repairman along with his brother, Gary, as they owned & operated Stinson’s Auto Body of Waynesboro. They then moved and lived in Mesa, AZ, where they owned and operated a body shop. In 1985, Jim moved back to the area and he operated Stinson’s Auto Body of Pond Bank until 1993. He later worked for various local car dealerships in auto body repair. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, repairing pocket watches and enjoyed working with youth & young adults in Christian ministries.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Angela L. Shaffer Stinson, whom he married August 16, 1996. Two sons, Donavan D. (Selma) Stinson of Bossier City, LA and Duane E. (Jennifer) Stinson of Winnweiler, Germany, three grandchildren, two step daughters, Ann-Marie (Tyler) George of Chambersburg, and Nicki (Eric) Malinak of Mechanicsburg. Two step grandchildren. Three brothers, Gary (Arlene) Stinson of Arizona, and Alan R. Stinson and Danny (Dawn) Stinson both of Chambersburg. Jim was preceded in death by a son, Ryan J. Stinson.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM March 24, 2017 at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home Inc., Mercersburg, with Pastor Rich Stoffan officiating. Interment will be at Air Hill Church Cemetery, Chambersburg.
There will be no viewing; however, the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Friday at the funeral home.
The family requests the omission of flowers. Contributions may be made to American Heart Association, Franklin/Fulton Division, 610 Community Way, Lancaster, PA 17603.
