Obituary for Dorothy Gleaton

Dorothy Gleaton, 94, of Abilene passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2017. Services will be Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 10:30 A.M. in St. Paul United Methodist Church with Rev. Bill Libby officiating. Burial will be in Greenleaf Cemetery in Brownwood, Texas with Rev. David Medley officiating, under the direction of North’s Funeral Home 242, Orange Street.

Dorothy was born May 29, 1922 in Belton, Texas to John M. and Roby (Tatum) Ross.

Dorothy graduated in 1949 from Daniel Baker College of Southwestern University with a Bachelor’s Degree. She receives her master of education from McMurry University in 1955. She was a school teacher for twenty eight years, two years in Coleman, Texas and twenty six years in Abilene, Texas.
Dorothy was reared in Santa Anna, Texas. She married Nat Gleaton in Odessa, Texas on February 8, 1946.

Dorothy was a member of Abilene Woman’s Club, Teachers Associations, Retired Teachers Association of Texas and Abilene Independent School District retired teachers. She was also a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church since 1953 in Abilene.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother.

She is survived by one son, Ross Gleaton and wife Connie of Albuquerque, New Mexico, One daughter DeLys Larson of Clearwater, Florida and four grandchildren Jeremy Larson, Tiffany Larson, Adriane Fergus and Cody Gleaton.

We would also like to thank Melissa Flores and her mother Barbara Gann for their amazing love and wonderful care of our mother over the past two years. We consider both of them part of family and love them both.

The family request in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church, 525 Beech, Abilene, Texas 79601 to the Memorial Funds for Outreach.
