Obituary for Abrey Cornelius Oliver

Brother Abrey Cornelius Oliver, known as “A.C.”, was born on September 25, 1944, in Atlanta, Georgia, to the late Prince and Frankie Oliver. Abrey was the second of two children born to this union. He is survived by his sister, Vesta Jean Oliver.

A.C. was educated in the Atlanta Public Schools System, graduating from Booker T. Washington High School in the class of 1963. He worked in several occupations and retired from Georgia Institute of Technology in 2008.

As a young child, being inspired by his mother, he became devoted to playing the piano. This grew into a lifetime of satisfaction as he expressed his love for music by becoming a singer, composer, instrumentalist, and teacher of others. He loved all music, but gospel became his passion.

Forming gospel quartets introduced his energetic style of gospel to audiences of thousands. And just as everyone thought he was the best in his field, surprise, he entered into radio for 37 years working with WYZE.
His greatest moments of expressing his love for people and music, was giving his heart to the world with complete satisfaction. In the words of A.C. Oliver, “The World Don’t Owe Me Nothing.”

Now that his creative mind and voice is silent, we ask that you always cherish those precious moments. As he would say to us, “I Thank You.”
