Life Story for Marcel "Cherp" Cherpin
Tribute to Dad!
How can I say goodbye to this man? This 6 ft. 2 in. handsome and strong man is the Dad that brought me and my brother and sisters into this world. He loved our Mom from the moment he met her and still loves her today 35 years after she passed away. That loving legacy is his gift to our family. He is so proud of his 4 children, 13 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. He has worked hard his entire life to make sure we all could have a good life. He was a farmer who worked long hours in fields of vineyards. He was a millwright worker and a business owner. He is an honest, intelligent, stubborn, opinionated, respectful, easy going, generous, and a friend to many people. He also knew how to enjoy life too. He was an athlete - playing football in school, liked to golf, and was an excellent bowler, but his favorite sport was fishing!
This wonderful man that supported all of us, now needed us to care for him. Four years ago he moved in with my youngest sister when it was obvious that he could no longer live on his own. His pain became worse and his strong body slowly started to weaken. This 89 year old man is now bedridden and on hospice. It breaks my heart to see him slipping away from us but I know his body and soul are tired.
I know that he knows in his heart how much we all love him. Even though I would love to have him around a little longer, I realize that he is ready to go. He will finally be pain free and at peace with my Mom. Goodbye Daddy, I love you.
