The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Edith Bentley can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

So Many Stories

It's hard to choose just one story. Ede's sense of fun was unique. She was in her early nineties when we decided to take a paddle boat ride. Neither one of us had ever been in one before. Getting in was hard enough but getting the thing to move in a straight line was almost impossible. Then there was the getting back out of it. I got out with difficulty. I looked around at Ede and wondered how in the h*ll we were going to get her out of a boat that wouldn't stay still and onto to the wharf. After several minutes of grunting and groaning and puffing and wheezing by golly we did it. First we got the front half of her onto the wharf. Then I grabbed her legs and kind of hoisted and rolled her out. We were exhausted from the effort. And not a boy scout in sight anywhere when we needed one. Boy, I'll miss her.
