Welcome to the Smith Funeral Home

The Smith Funeral Home was established as the J. Donald Smith Funeral Home in 1955 by J. Donald Smith in Chadwicks. It operated there until 1970 when it moved to its present facility at 3022 Oneida Street in Sauquoit. In 1976, Donald’s son, David, joined the firm and in 1998 the business was purchased by David and his wife, Lori. In 2019, Smith Funeral Home affiliated with Dimbleby Funeral Homes, Inc, a family owned four generation firm. 

The combined resources of Smith and Dimbleby funeral homes will ensure that your family’s wishes will continue to be met.

Geraldine J. Parry 1940-2017
Sauquoit

Geraldine J. Parry, 76, passed away on March 30, 2017 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center. She was born in Utica on October 12, 1940 to the late Philip E. and Agnes Marie Roberts Light and received her education in New Hartford and Utica schools, graduating from Proctor High School.
On December 20, 1957 she was united in marriage with John B. Parry in Utica, a loving union of 56 years until his death on August 25, 2014.
Geraldine’s working career began at DanDee Donuts and prior to her retirement, was employed by Dunlap Tire in Utica.
She loved the outdoors and spent many enjoyable days camping, hiking and fishing but cherished most the times spent with family.
Geraldine is survived by her daughters; Gale Ann Parry of Verona, Nadine “Dina” Parry of N.C. and Anita Pieber and Dave LaClair of Sauquoit, her sons; Thomas Parry of Cassville, Robert and Andrea Parry and David and Mary Jane Parry, all of Sauquoit, many grandchildren and great grandchildren, her sisters; Debbie and David Chappel and Bonnie and Mike Guarno, all of Utica, her brother in law; Bob Robinson, a special cousin; Shirley Vetter and Jennie her dog and Kiki her cat.
She was predeceased by her sons; John B. Parry Jr., Wayne Parry and John P. Parry, her sisters; Genevieve, Gloria, Beverly and Joanne and her brothers; Denis and Douglas.
Calling hours will be Monday, April 3 from 5-8 at the Smith Funeral Home, 3022 Oneida St. Sauquoit. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10:00 at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
Please consider donations in Geraldine’s memory to Faith in Christ Fellowship Church in Chadwicks. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
