Obituary for Jackie Gardner


Mr. Jackie Eugene Gardner, 58, of Newark, Arkansas, departed this life on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at his home. He was born December 27, 1958 in Batesville, the son of Oscar Eugene and Ruby (Shaw) Gardner.
Mr. Gardner enjoyed visiting with people, spending time barbequing and fishing. He was an Arkansas Razorback football fan, and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Mr. Gardner was a member of the Newark Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his son, Steven Eugene Gardner; one brother, Keith Gardner; and his father, Eugene Gardner.
Mr. Gardner is survived by his mother, Ruby (Shaw) Smith and step-father, Edward Smith, of Newark; two sons, Justin Gardner of Newark, and Jason Gardner and wife, Jennifer, of Jonesboro; one sister, Shawn Richmond of Newark; four step-sisters, Lynette, Tina, Verna, and Kim; five grandchildren, Madyson, Abigail, Caigan, Braxton, and Finley Gardner; and a lifetime of friends.
Friends may visit at the funeral home, Thursday, 6:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral services are 10:00 a.m. Friday at Newark Church of Christ, with interment following at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Michael Martin, Adam Owens, Rick Holcombe, Curtis Magness, Bo Patton, and Greg Holcombe. Honorary pallbearers are Mike Combee and David Junior.
