Obituary for Ross Edward Lumsden

Ross Edward Lumsden
Ross Lumsden
Entered into rest at St. Lawrence Lodge on Tuesday April 4, 2017. Ross Edward Roy Lumsden was born on May 21, 1928 in Smiths Falls. He was youngest of eight brothers and sisters. He married Jessie Ross (RN) of Belfast, PEI in 1963 and together were blessed with three sons; Steven (1964), Douglas (1965) and David (1966). He also cherished his three grandchildren; Sarah, Matthew and Ryan.
Ross and Jessie relocated to Brockville where he worked for nearly three decades as a technician in the engineering department at Phillips Cables until he retired in 1988.
Ross and Jessie enjoyed camping with family and friends for many years. They were active members of the Thousand Island Camping Cub and then the Eager Beavers Camping Club.
Ross was an avid fisherman and hunter from a young age and throughout his life. He and five friends built a hunting camp on Miller’s Lake near Snow Road in 1964. He participated in the annual whitetail deer hunt there until the age of 80. Ross had a love of spending time outdoors with friends and family.
Ross is remembered by all for being a quiet and gentle soul. He wasn’t a big talker but he enjoyed spending time socializing with friends, be it around the campfires on camping weekends or while playing cards. He enjoyed having his daily “Miller Time” with his long standing neighbours and friends Harold “Bug” Herron and Ron Helmer. He had an endearing way of making you smile or laugh in his quiet way. He was truly a gentleman who was always willing to lend anyone a helping hand.

Visitation will be at the Irvine Funeral Home, 4 James Street East, Brockville on Monday, April 10th, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Canadian Cancer Society would be gratefully appreciated y the family. Send condolences or place a donation online at www.irvinememorial.com.
