Charles Shelman Ball, of Prince George County, VA entered into eternal rest at the age of 88 on April 7, 2017. Mr. Ball was preceded in death by his parents Mary Ellen Shellman Ball and Charles Earl Ball of Stephensport, KY. Charles was an active member of Gary’s United Methodist Church and was also a member of the Masonic Lodge in Petersburg, VA. Mr. Ball was a very dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, always putting his family first. He served in the military and became a Federal Employee following his term of service. Mr. Ball was well respected by all that were graced by knowing him. He is survived by his wife, Peggy W. Ball, originally from Baltimore, MD; daughter, Vera Lynn Milton and her husband, Kenneth W. Milton of Petersburg, VA; his son, Charles E. Ball; sisters, Bessie Ann Newton and her husband, Charles of Owensboro, KY, and Emma Dean Reidenbach; brother, Bobby Joe Ball and his wife, Ethel of Stephensport, KY; beloved grandsons, Jason Todd Millis and his wife, Michelle of Ford, VA, and Kennon Young Ball of Colonial Heights, VA; two great grandsons, Hunter Todd Millis and Connor Wade Millis, also of Ford, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at the Crater Road Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 3935 S. Crater Road, Petersburg, Virginia 23805, with the Reverend Michael Baugham officiating. Interment will follow with military honors in Southlawn Memorial Park, S. Prince George. The family will receive friends Tuesday night, April 11, 2017 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Condolences may be registered at www.ealvinsmall.com.
