Burt Allen Schoneman, 60 of Platteville, completed his life’s journey and went to be with the Lord on Friday April 7, 2017 at home with loved ones by his side.

Burt was born June 28, 1956 to Albert Roy and Mary Ann (Hirsch) Schoneman in Greeley. He attended school in Eaton and graduated from Valley High School in 1975. Burt married Debbie Olin, worked on the farm and for Longmont Foods in Platteville.

Burt served as a volunteer for the Platteville Fire Department which he enjoyed very much. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Platteville where he served on the board of trustees until his death. Burt loved to bowl and enjoyed fishing trips in the wilderness. He had a special knack for making small engines run so he was always busy with someone’s problem. In 2008 he reunited with Gayla Norgren who was his best friend and care giver until his passing.

Burt is survived by his best friend, Gayla Norgren of Platteville; children, Ryan (Chrissy) of Platteville, Aaron (Ashlee) of Platteville; grandchildren, Trinity, Kolten and Gabriel; brothers, Carl (Sharon), Rhiney, and Brad (Cindy) Schoneman; as well as nieces and nephews.

Burt is preceded in death by his parents, and his son Evan.

Services will be held at 11:00am Friday April 14th at the First UMC of Platteville, 316 Elizabeth Ave, Platteville, CO with reception to follow. Private inurnment will be scheduled at a later date. Memorial gifts may be made to Platteville United Methodist Church.
