Obituary for Eva Maxine Adams

Eva Maxine Adams
Eva Vise Adams of Longmont, CO passed away April 10, 2017 at Sunny Acres Villa in Thornton, CO.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold. She is survived by her daughter, Elaine Tomson and husband, Larry of Thornton; Grandson, Bill Tomson and wife, Janet, of Tennessee; Debra, and husband, Steve Cordle of Alabama; a sister, Dorothy Landers, and a brother, Bob Vise.

She was born March 26, 1923 in Wilsonville, Nebraska to Nella McLane and Darrell O. Vise.

She graduated from Longmont High School in 1940 and married her high school sweetheart April 13, 1941.

Eva worked at Hascall Meat Market, South Ideal Market, and Central Ideal Market here in Longmont.

Eva and Harold had a dairy farm north of 17th Avenue which is now Garden Acres Park. They lived in a 3 room house (you went outside for the other little room). Eva would cook lunch and take it to the field for Harold and the neighbors during haying season.

They made a home for several young people whose home life was unbearable. They took them in and considered them to be part of their family also.

Eva and Harold celebrated over 70 wedding anniversaries.

Harold and Eva were active in the First Christian Church, now LifeBridge, since 1948. Even when they moved to Loveland, they drove back and forth, sometimes twice on Sundays, to attend services, meetings and activities at the church.

In 1957 they moved to Loveland, Colorado to work and later purchased the Loveland Auto Supply store. Eva worked at Scientific Electronics of Loveland and the First National Bank in Loveland until their auto accident in 1972 when a drunk driver hit them head on.

They moved back to Longmont in 1977 and Eva volunteered at Longmont Meals on wheels, the Longmont Hospital and worked at Golden Concrete and Gravel.

A celebration of Eva’s life will be held at 10:00 am Saturday April 22, 2017 at the Ahlberg Funeral Chapel in Longmont. Cremation entrusted to Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory. Eva asked that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Lymphatic Education and Research Network, 40 Garvies Point Road, Suite D, Glencove, NY 11542, 516-625-9675. Lymphedema is a side effect of Breast Cancer. Elaine survived cancer but has dealt with lymphedema for 21 years as research has not yet found a cure.
