John D. Weeks "Johnny"
I am Della's oldest son. She endured all my teenage shenanigans and mischief. She supported me in everything I attempted, not only as a child but also as an adult. She was stern when needed and boy did I push those moments. Mom always made friends with her neighbors no matter where she lived. Those neighbors were and still are more like family because of mom's caring and thoughtful ways. I once sent mom a letter telling her that my kids were afraid of her and she wasn't being the kind of grandma I knew her to be. Never once did I take time to think that she was surrounded by children everyday because she was a school teacher. After her retirement, she far surpassed any expectations I and my children had of what a good Grandma should be. I am very proud of my mom and miss her, not that I saw her very much, but I always had comfort knowing she was just a phone call away. Now she has gone on to be the Lord and I along with our entire family have a huge presence missing from our lives. I take joy in knowing she isn't suffering and that I haven't seen the last of her. Mom, I can only try to continue to be the husband, father and brother you raised me to be. I look forward to our reunion in Heaven. I love you more than you knew while here. I miss you. May God light your path so brightly that the residual light will bring us all together again some day.
