Obituary for Geraldine Helen Kennedy (Fancher)

Geraldine Helen  Kennedy (Fancher)
Geraldine Helen Kennedy (Gerry), 85, of Rotterdam, NY, went home to the Lord while surrounded by her family, on April 12th, 2017, at The Villages Hospital, in Florida.

Gerry was born to Robert Morris and Naneen Julia Fancher on May 25th, 1931, in Schenectady, NY. She attended Draper High School in Rotterdam, NY. Gerry was the loving wife of James Frederick Kennedy, whom she married on October 11th, 1946. They were married 59 years until he went home to the Lord on September 2nd, 2005.

Gerry worked as a bookkeeper for Millivac Instruments Inc. for almost 37 years. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and family, baking, sewing, reading, and playing cards; but most of all, she enjoyed time spent with her daughters and their families.

Gerry was a devout Catholic with strong faith that the Heavenly Father would help and guide her family.

Gerry is survived by her beloved daughters Sylvia (Paul) Heiner, Cynthia Cheney, Ramona (Russ) Carson; son-in-law Richard King; her grandchildren Paul Heiner, Mark Heiner, Brian (Dabrina) King, Barry (Heather) King, Janelle Pfister, Julie Riccio, Tamara (Andrew) Reed, Jamie (David) Lemm and David (Simone) Adams; 13 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Gerry is preceded in death by her parents, sister Patricia McCann, and most recently, her daughter Diane King.

A visitation will be held from 4 - 6 PM, Sunday, April 23rd, at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Ave, Schenectady, NY. Services will be held on Monday morning April 24th at 10:45 am at the funeral home followed at 11:30 am at St. Gabriel’s Church, Rotterdam where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.

Interment will follow at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna, NY.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
