Doris Ida Maxine Simunich, a longtime resident of Clinton Twp.,was received into the hands of her Lord on Friday, April 14, 2017, at the age of 91 years.

Doris was born in Detroit on October 27, 1925, a daughter of the late Henry and Dora (Schalk) Bitterburg. She was a graduate of Denby High School in Detroit. Doris was united in marriage to her beloved husband Peter Simunich on July 28, 1945 in Assumption Grotto Catholic Church of Detroit. The couple made their home in Detroit until moving to Clinton Twp. in 1953. Doris had worked for the K-Mart Company as a floor manager for over 18 years before disability forced retirement. Doris was a very social person who touched many lives. She enjoyed card parties, pinochle, and loved cooking. In her earlier years, she worked with the Girl Scouts and Brownies. She dedicated her life to her family. Doris will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Doris is survived by her loving husband of 72 years, Peter; her devoted daughters, Sharon A. Monash and Holly B. (John Holly) Simunich and her adoring grandson Zachary A. Monash. She was preceded in death by her brother, James Bitterburg.

Visitation will be held at the Faulmann & Walsh Golden Rule Funeral Home, 32814 Utica Rd., Fraser, Monday from 2pm till 8pm and Tuesday from 10am till time of funeral services at 11am. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton Twp. Memorial contributions to St. Vincent DePaul in her memory appreciated.
