Joyce Fl0ssie  Edwards (Drake)
Joyce Flossie Edwards, age 92, passed away on Easter Sunday, April 16, 2017, at Park Place Assisted Living Center, Kalamazoo, Michigan, under the excellent care of the staff and of Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan. Prior to residing at Park Place, Joyce and her husband of 74 years, Ord Cox Edwards, lived in the Schoolcraft and Marcellus areas. Joyce was born in 1924 in Lawton, Michigan. She married Ord Cox Edwards onSeptember 27, 1941, who preceded her in death on March 14, 2016. They were long-time farmers in the Schoolcraft area and a member of the Grange as well as the Farm Bureau. Many people from Schoolcraft may remember Joyce as a cook at the Schoolcraft Schools for many years. Joyce is survived by her daughters, Honey Handy of Portage and Joan Edwards of Schoolcraft, as well as a grandson, Michael Axtell of Portage; a granddaughter, Debbie (Brad) Gillaspie of Schoolcraft; and two great-grandsons, Brady and Cody Gillaspie. Joyce is preceded in death by her parents Charles and Flossie Drake, brothers Emerson, Coy and Don Drake, her sister Lucille Stevens and her son, Lee Edwards. Cremation has taken place. Private grave-side services will be conducted in the near future. Joyce’s family would like to thank the staff at Park Place Assisted Living Center and Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan for the wonderful care she received.
