Obituary for Doris L. Meehan

Doris L. Meehan, 88 of Wall passed away on Sunday April 16, 2017 at Sunnyside Manor, Wall. Doris was born in Newark and raised in Kearny. She was a graduate of Kearny High School. She worked as a secretary for Maple Buick for several years where she met her husband Edward. Once married they lived in Bloomfield and then Lincroft for 28 years before retiring to Bricktown and finally Manchester in Ocean County. Doris was a homemaker, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed spending time with her family. Doris was the office Manager for Dr. Guy Maratta in Red Bank for approximately 20 years. She was a devoted catholic and volunteered at her church, St. Leo the Great in Lincroft, in any capacity she could.

Doris was predeceased by her husband of 51 years Edward Francis Meehan in 2003. She is survived by three daughters and their husbands, Deborah and Michael Hanlon of Jackson, Donna and Bill Kaye of Brick and Mary Kay and Jim Barbieri of Wall. Doris is also survived by a brother and his wife Andy and Doris Gerard of Toms River; 9 beloved grandchildren Stephanie (David), Marc (Christine), Alysse (Joe), Sean (Amber), Bret, Laura (Matt), Kyle (Linda), Leigha and Dillon; 11 cherished great grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Thursday April 20 from 4-8 pm at Orender Family Home for Funerals 2643 Old Bridge Road, Manasquan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 9 am Friday April 21 at St. Martha’s Church, Point Pleasant. Interment will be at a later date at Brig Gen William C Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital PO Box 1000 Dep.t 142 Memphis, TN 38101.
