Obituary for Joel Lee Chamness

Joel Lee  Chamness
Joel Chamness went home to be with the Lord on April 14, 2017, after a battle with cancer. He was born in 1952, the son of Paul and Virginia Chamness. Joel spent his childhood in the Chicago area. He graduated fron Lyons Township H.S, attended Western Illiniois University, and earned a Bachelors Degree in Education.

After college, Mr. Chamness moved to Florida where he became a mechanic in muffler repair. He resided in West Palm Beach becoming a part time owner in Zeus Muffler Shop. Later, he was employed by Custom Exhaust. Mr. Chamness returned to his love of teaching by earning a Masters Degree from Florida Atlantic University. He became an E.S.E. teacher and Math teacher at Wellington H.S.

Joel is survived by his wife, Bonnie, two daughters, Addie (Mrs. Justin) Jennings, of Crossville, TN; and Hannah (Mrs. Kevin) Worm, of Waconia, MN; five grandchildren, and four sisters. Mr. and Mrs. Chamness lived in the West Palm Beach area for about 25 years. In 2007, the family moved to Crossville, TN; where Mr. Chamness taught Math at Cumberland County H.S. until 2014, when he retired. Mr. Chamness was an elder at Plateau Christian Church in Crossville. A family visitation will take place at the church on Saturday April 22nd, from 2 to 4 P.M. A memorial service will begin at 4 P.M.
