Obituary for
Christine A. Holliday
Christine Reynolds Holliday, 64, loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend and colleague, passed away on April 13, 2017 after a brief illness.
Chris was a lifelong Toledoan, and grew up in West Toledo. Chris spent her childhood at Blessed Sacrament School and Close Park, forging friendships that are still among her closest. She attended Notre Dame Academy, Class of 1970, where her circle of friends grew and includes special pals, The S'mores Sisters, who embrace life as women of "piety, principle, prudence and prayer." Chris was later inducted into the Notre Dame Academy Hall of Fame.
Chris attended the University of Toledo, earning Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Philosophy, focusing on Medical Ethics.
After further studies and degrees in Education, Chris embarked on a rich career as teacher, librarian and media specialist. She loved her years at Christ the King Elementary, St. Francis de Sales High School and St. Ursula Academy.
Chris was a talented author, photographer and traveller. She led many student trips to Spain, where one incident became her published entry in a recent Chicken Soup for the Soul, Gratitude Edition. She also wrote extensively for several local publications.
Chris took great delight in sharing her special chopped bologna sandwiches and homemade brownies, remembering loved ones with cards and flowers. She loved summer fun on Lake Huron in Tawas, Michigan, live theatre and high school events and special time with grandson Ben, whom she adored.
The special way Chris touched all who knew her is rooted in her deep love and devotion to her family. She is cherished by husband, James, "Doc;" sons, Nelson, "Spike" (Mallory) and Benjamin; stepdaughter, Jessica (Rich Stein); grandchildren, Ethan and Emily Stein and Ben Holliday; sister, Mary Lynn (Dan Duris); brothers, Paul Joseph (Anne Conklin) and Mark (Pam); and many nieces and nephews. Her precious soul joins those of her parents, Paul and Therese Reynolds and her sister, Susan.
Please join us for visitation on Wednesday, April 19 from 2:00 - 9:00 p.m. at Ansberg West Funeral Home, 3000 W. Sylvania Ave., Toledo, OH 43613.
