Obituary for Marcia Cecilia Jamison

Marcia Cecilia Jamison was born in Long Branch, NJ on March 5, 1938 to Lou Etta Williams Matthews and Alphonzo Matthews. She was the youngest of four girls. Marcia attended Long Branch High School. Later, she went on to study nursing earning her associate’s, then bachelor’s degree, before graduating with a Master’s of Science of Nursing from Jersey City State College (now known as New Jersey City University). As a nurse, she faithfully served the medical community for over 30 years at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.

Marcia was the devoted and loving wife to Lester Jamison, and mother to Patricia Jamison Williams (NJ), Cheri Jamison (NY), John (Randy) Hughes (GA), David Jamison (NJ), Lester (Jack) Hughes (deceased) survived by his wife, Mary (VA). She was sister to Patricia Anugwelem and grandmother to Brandy and Charles Hughes (their mother, Sharon Hughes). She was sister-in-law to Audrey White and Myrtis-Ann Jamison.

Marcia started studying the Bible with a sister in East Orange, NJ while raising her young family. Later, she was baptized on December 28, 1981 in Monroe, NY. She was associated with the Irvington North Congregation (Irvington, NJ) for about 40 years. Following her retirement from work she started regular pioneering, devoting many hours to Bible preaching and teaching. She thoroughly enjoyed sharing her love for Jehovah God and spending time in field service with many of the brothers and sisters.

And LOVE to travel, Marcia did. She travelled all over the world often with her friend LaVerne Jordan of South Carolina or her daughters, Patricia and Cheri. She, also, enjoyed attending International Conventions when she could. Marcia will always be remembered for her quiet and mild spirit, sparkling smile, and her love of dancing.

Marcia is preceded in death by her son Lester (Jack) Hughes, her sisters Marian Henson, and Rennie Izzard; and nieces Cheryl Johnson and Geraldine Izzard. Marcia will be missed by her immediate family, four generation of nieces, nephews, cousins and host of friends.
