My son passed away and I had his funeral at Forest Lawn in Greenwood. The entire process from start to finish was outstanding. Although my son's passing was tragic and sad, the service was a great honor for my son's memory. The funeral director, Missy, was great during the entire process. She cared about every detail. I never met her before I made the arrangements, but I felt as if she was an old friend that cared about me and my family. Another member of the funeral home staff, Kurt, was also very caring. Judith May Burkman (Deer)
Judith May Burkman, age 73, of Indianapolis, passed away Sunday, May 7, 2017 with her family at her side. She was born February 7, 1944 in Indianapolis to Gerald and Virginia (Everman) Deer. She was a graduate of Emmerich Manual High School with the Class of 1961. Judy worked at Indiana Bell as an Operator for 11 years, R.C.A. for 4 years, and in Insurance for 15 years. She was a very devoted wife and mother who was also an avid bowler when she was younger. She was loved and admired by her family and friends and she will be sorely missed.

Judy married William Burkman on April 3, 1967 in Jonesville, VA and he survives along with sons, Dave (Tammy) Burkman of Nineveh and Dan (Lisa) Burkman of Morgantown; daughter, Debbie Burkman Appel of Hazel Green, AL; sister, Bev (Jim) Workman of Martinsville; 8 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 12, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home with Pastor John Money officiating. Entombment will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. To send or view online condolences and photos, please use this page.
