Obituary for Eileen Marie Garden (McVeigh)

Eileen Marie Garden (nee McVeigh), 78, of Carlstadt, passed away on May 11, 2017. Born in Paterson November 14, 1938 she attended St. George Catholic Grammar School and Central High School both in Paterson. Eileen received a B.A. Degree in Elementary Education from William Paterson University. Eileen taught for 37 years, mostly Kindergarten in Carlstadt, retired in 1999 earning the Governor’s Teacher of the Year in 1990. She was a member of the N.J. Retired Teacher’s Assoc., National Education Assoc., and Bergen County Education Assoc. Eileen was also a member of the Carlstadt Woman’s Club serving as Corresponding Secretary and Communications Chairperson, the Carlstadt Senior Friendship Club serving as Trip Coordinator for many years, Vic Hoofers Auxiliary serving as President several times, Past President of Boy Scout Troop 1 Parent's Club, Past President of Carlstadt/East Rutherford Babe Ruth Parent’s Assoc. and was a parishioner of St. Joseph’s R.C. Church. Beloved wife of the late Joseph R. Garden. Loving mother of Gregory Garden and his wife Joy, Scott Garden and his wife Maureen and Jeffrey Garden and his wife Laura. Cherished grandmother of Kevin and his wife Lauren, Katie, Daniel, Zoe, Caela, Ryan, Brynna, Thomas and great grandmother of Owen. Dear sister of Patricia Samra and her husband Robert and the late John McVeigh, Jack McVeigh and William McVeigh. Funeral departing from the Kimak Funeral Home, 425 Broad Street, Carlstadt on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at 9:00 AM for a Funeral Mass in St. Joseph’s R. C. Church, East Rutherford at 9:30 AM. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. Visitation Monday 2-4, 7-9 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joseph’s Church Capital Campaign for a new Baptismal Font, 120 Hoboken Rd., East Rutherford, NJ 07073.
