Condolence From: Emily Foppe
Condolence: I was thinking of my Christian heritage today and thought of Dr. Ross Rhoads. I sat under his teaching for 4 years while a Queens College student. Much of the foundation of my Christian life I learned from his expository teachings. Thank you Dr. Rhoads. See you in heaven!

Condolence: Dear Carol and Family,

I was saddened to hear of the passing of Ross. I first met Ross back in July of 1984 when I moved to Charlotte from Ohio. When I was looking for a strong Bible teaching church that was similar to the one I grew up in, many recommended Calvary Church and Dr. Ross Rhoads. Once I started attending, I knew it was where I was to be. I was very involved in the Single Adult Ministry and Outreach Ministries at Calvary. I also was a part of the Worship Ministry over the years. There were many Sundays when Ross would preach that it seemed like the words that he spoke, God intended just for me. God used Ross as His instrument to help draw me back closer in my relationship with Christ, as I had drifted from my strong faith in college and throughout my 20's. I remember his heartfelt alter calls at the end of every sermon. It was evident that Ross had such a passion for spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ and a desire for lost souls to be saved. He was a faithful servant of the Lord's!

Ross was also very willing and gracious to speak and pray at an annual prayer breakfast for the Charlotte Jaycees (young professional leadership and community service organization)when I would ask him.

The family will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time of sorrow and loss. May you feel our Heavenly Father's loving arms surround you with His love, peace and comfort.......and as He promises us, JOY will come in the morning as we look forward to the time we soon will all be reunited for eternity in the presence of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and God our Heavenly Father!

In Christ's Love,

Sally Holmes

Condolence: Dear Carol, Kathleen, Steve, Paul and Family,
When I moved back to Charlotte from Los Angeles in 1988, I was looking for a new church home. My mother, Jackie had been reading Ross's newspaper columns and suggested Calvary. The Lookabill family was blown away by Ross preaching The Word with his immense knowledge, power and signature passion. We experienced great spiritual growth those years under Ross's Spirit filled preaching. He was eager to answer any theological questions I had and I appreciated him giving me that access. Carol, both you and Ross were a loving support to me at a critical time in my life. We always enjoyed when you would bless us with beautifully playing hymns on the piano at Calvary and one Christmas gathering in your home. In 1990 Ross married Danny and me in a custom made ceremony that honored Jesus and lovingly introduced my Jewish in-laws to Our Lord. When Danny's mother wrote a book of her sermons as a lay Rabbi, Ross took the time to read it and wrote Judy and shared more seeds for Christ. Eventually both Danny's mother and sister came to trust in Jesus. My mother and I loved our time with you touring The Holy Land. You made a booklet of scriptures to go along with each stop we made and Ross helped us to experience The Word while in Israel in a way that impacted our lives forever. Ross baptized Mom and me in The Jordan. What an occasion to treasure! We love you and Ross and the blessing you have been in our lives. Carol, what an amazing team mate you were to Ross in your ministry together. We are lifting you and the whole family up for comfort and peace as you grieve. We miss Ross too, yet celebrate his entrance into Eternity. Ross is victorious in his well-lived life for Christ!
With Love and Thanksgiving,

Condolence: Dear Carol and your enture family,
We were so saddened to hear of Ross's departing this kingdom but know he is in glory with our Lord. Our loss is heavens gain but what a huge loss it was for the entire Christian community and all of us who knew and loved him. It still hurts.
Our sons, Brad, David, and Derek send their condolences also. They all said that Ross made a large impact on their lives growing up at Calvary. Actually, Ross led all of us to salvation with his tender, soulful and powerful preaching of the gospel. He will be hard to replace.
Our hearts and prayers are with you and your family at this time of loss. Love, Diana and Lee

Condolence: So many wonderful memories crowd our minds of our years under the teaching of Ross Rhoads. He taught deep theological truths like very few in the pulpit today, and for that we thank him. Our prayers go out to Carol, and their three children and many grandchildren.
