Obituary for Katherine Fern Frey
— Katherine Fern Frey passed away peacefully at her home Sunday, May 28, 2017, with family near. Heaven gained a beautiful angel to watch over us.
Known by most as Fern, she was born March 7, 1924, to Julius and Lazette Simmert. She had a large family with five sisters and a brother.
Fern met the love of her life, Walter Frey, in high school. They married Nov. 22, 1941. They had three children: Gregory, Charlotte and Sandy. They had an enjoyable life which included camping, fishing and traveling. Walter left her side all too soon as he passed away after 34 years of marriage.
She continued on and loved her career at the Missoula Forest Service as an information clerk where she worked until she retired. She was an active member of the Missoula Senior Center. She enjoyed her pinochle group and numerous other activities.
She was blessed with 10 grandchildren and too many great-grandchildren to count. She loved spending time with all her family here at home and afar. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren would always put a sparkle in her eye and a smile on her face.
She is survived by her sister, Irene Johnson, son Gregory and Lynn Frey, daughter Charlotte and Denny Williams, daughter Sandy Jasperson and all the other countless family members.
Per her request, there will be a family burial service at the Missoula City Cemetery where she will be united with Walter again.
