Obituary for Arlene G. McMenamy

Arlene G.  McMenamy
Arlene G. McMenamy, age 80, of Melbourne, Florida passed away on Sunday, June 4, 2017.

The Rosary will be said at 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 7 at Beach Funeral Home, 4999 N. Wickham Rd, Melbourne, Florida. Visitation will follow from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

The funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, June 8 at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Indiatlantic with Monsignor David Page officiating. Internment will follow at Florida Memorial Gardens in Rockledge.

Arlene was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on November 23, 1936 to William Henry Harrison Grubb and Marie Lamb Grubb. She was the youngest of six children.

A graduate of Ravenhill Academy of the Assumption in Philadelphia in 1954, Arlene then attended St Joseph's Catholic College. She completed her Bachelor's Degree at Temple University in Philadelphia in 1960.

On September 5, 1959 Arlene was wedded to James John McMenamy, Sr. in Philadelphia. They were married for 57 years. As newlyweds, the couple moved to Tampa, Florida in 1959 and relocated to Brevard County in early 1962. The family lived in Satellite Beach for 23 years before building their home in the Lake Washington area of Melbourne in 1985.

As an elementary school teacher in Brevard County for more than twenty five years, Mrs. McMenamy taught in both the Catholic and Public School systems until leaving her profession to join the family's business. She presided as President of East Coast Paper Stock, Inc. until her passing.

A devout Catholic, Arlene was devoted to the parishes of Holy Name of Jesus and Ascension Catholic Church during her fifty five years as a resident of Brevard County.

Arlene is preceded in death by her parents and siblings, her daughter, Patricia McMenamy and her granddaughter Amanda New Bowers.

Arlene is survived by her loving husband, Jim, daughter Michelle McMenamy New, son James J. McMenamy Jr. (Michelle)., daughter Maureen McMenamy Tassone (Mark), and son, Joseph P. McMenamy (Teresa). Surviving grandchildren include Trevor New (Megan), Megan McMenamy Dickens (Matt), Mary McMenamy, Meriel McMenamy, James McMenamy, Mark Tassone, Myles Tassone, Quinlan McMenamy and Patrick McMenamy. Great Grandchildren include Hunter Bowers, Kamryn Tassone and Weston New.

The family would like to thank the staff of Weusthoff Hospice House for the loving care and comfort they provided our mother as she made her journey to our Lord.
