Obituary for Curtis Chasowy

Curtis Chasowy
Chasowy, Joseph “Curtis”

Suddenly after a brief illness passed away peacefully with his family by his side on June 7, 2017 in his 64th year.

He is survived by his wife Jane of 40 years, his much loved daughter Katie (Bryan), his mother Peggy of Dryden, ON and brothers Nicholas (Nancy) and David (Theresa) and sister in law Jackie Leach (Doug) of Kimberley, BC. He was a cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews and numerous close friends. Predeceased by his father Joe and sister Carol.

Curtis retired from a rewarding 30-year teaching career in 2008. He had countless students at Norwich High School, Huron Park S.S., W.C.I., and I.D.C.I. He was a respected and loved teacher to many students, sharing with them his love of history and learning. He was an avid hockey player who finished the 2017 season playing four times a week. He truly loved the game and his teammates. Since retirement he enjoyed the ability to travel and explore the world with his wife and close friends.

In keeping with his wishes, there will be no formal funeral service. A celebration of his life will be held in the backyard of his home in Sweaburg (6 Millard St) on Sunday, June 11, 2017 from 2-5pm. Please bring your own lawn chair.

If desired, a memorial donation in Curt’s memory to the Make A Wish Foundation so that a child could experience something special in their lives (like a trip to Disney World) would be appreciated. And lastly -- his wish to all of you would be to go and see the latest superhero movie and toast him over popcorn and liquorice allsorts. Donations may be arranged through the Brock and Visser Funeral Home, Woodstock, 519-539-0004. Personal online condolences at www.brockandvisser.com
