Obituary for Preston Earl Walker

Preston Walker, 88, of Colonial Heights passed away on Friday, June 16, 2017 at his residence. Born in Baskerville, Virginia, he was the son of the late Preston and Edith Davis Walker and was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Walker and a sister, Nancy Lee Jones. Mr. Walker was a member of Highland United Methodist Church and member of the E. McAllister Men’s Bible Class and served as head usher. He retired as a grocery store manager and worked at the following stores during his career: Colonial Store, Big Star, Farm Fresh, Gates Food Land and Choices Grocery Stores. He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Lillie Ruth Walker; daughter, Diane Neace and husband, Bill of Chesterfield; son, Robert Walker of Hopewell and special friend, Paige Lubman; grandchildren, Eric Neace of Norfolk , Jason Neace of Chesterfield; granddaughter, Lauren Walker of Quinton; brother Raymond Walker and wife, Dottie, sister, Barbara Ann Matthews and husband, Bill all of South Hill, sister Lanelle Duncan and husband, Fred of Birmingham Al, and sister-in-law, Doris Crowder of South Hill, and numerous nieces and nephews. An 11:00 a.m. funeral service will take place on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 in the mausoleum at Southlawn Memorial Park, South Prince George 1911 Birdsong Rd with the Reverend Dr. Dorothy O’Quinn officiating. The family will receive friends Monday evening June 19, 2017 from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Home & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard 23834. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to “Back Pack Blessings” in care of Highland United Methodist 125 E. Westover Ave Colonial Heights 23834.
