Obituary for Evelyn V. Gough

Evelyn Virginia Gough, 94, of Clarksburg, WV, passed away on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at the Clarksburg Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Barbour County on January 23, 1923, a daughter of the late Hugh and Myrtle (Shaffer) Fry. Mrs. Gough was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Everett Gough on September 4, 1998.

Evelyn is survived by three children: Charles Gough and wife Debby of Clarksburg, Ray Gough of Clarksburg, and Joyce Shedlowski and husband Dave of San Antonio, TX; one sister, Ellen Mitchell of Philippi; six grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

In addition to her parents and husband, Evelyn was preceded in death by three children: infant Neal Gough, Dale Gough, and Linda Carson-Armstrong; and one brother, Bud Fry.

Evelyn retired from the restaurant at Stone and Thomas in Clarksburg. She was Baptist by faith and had attended East Clarksburg Baptist Church. Evelyn’s life was centered around her children and grandchildren, she loved her family very much. Evelyn was also an avid animal lover, especially her cats.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the entire staff of Clarksburg Nursing and Rehabilitation for their kind and loving care to Evelyn. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Humane Society of Harrison County (PO Box 4397 Clarksburg, WV 26302) or P.U.R.R. (306 Beech St. Grafton, WV 26354).

Family and friends will be received at the Davis-Weaver Funeral Home 329 E. Main Street Clarksburg, WV, on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 from 4 until 8pm. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at the funeral home at 11am with Pastor Charles Madaus presiding. Interment will follow at the Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Philippi.
