Obituary for Avonelle Holland

Avonelle Ida "Av" Holland, age 83, of Wooster, entered into rest, Monday, June 26, 2017 at her residence following a long illness.

She was born on August 23, 1934 in Union City, PA. to Alfred and Pearl Ida (Graters) Alsdorf.

She married Col. Gerald Richard "Jerry" Holland on September, 1979 in Washington, D.C. Soon after, they established their home in Colton's Point, MD which became the setting for a lifetime of memories. They traveled and had a wonderful life together before Jerry entered into rest in 2010.

She moved from Williamsburg, Va. to Wooster where she had resided since 2011. She was a member of Parkview Christian Church in Wooster and also loved to quilt.

She is survived by a daughter, Daneen (Wil) Roy of Jereco, VT. and a son, Scott (Page) Holland of Great Falls, VA.; grandchildren Adam, Asa, Tessa and Randi Roy, Sara, Whitney, and Bronzson Holland; great-grandchildren, Cali and Colton Roy; a brother, Dawson "Gary" (Judy) Alsdorf of Wooster. A host of nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her 2 sons, Darby Holland and Dave Morris and a sister, Janice Persons.

It was her wishes to be cremated.

The Memorial Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday (tomorrow), 12:00 p.m. at Parkview Christian Church in Wooster.

She will be united with her husband at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Pastor Bryan White of Parkview Christian Church along with the overwhelming prayers and love they have received especially after Av's passing.
