Obituary for Donald B. Bourbon

Donald B.  Bourbon
Donald B. Bourbon of Cadet, Missouri was born on Tuesday, January 13, 1948 in Cadet, Missouri. A son of the late Gertrude Mary (Coleman) Bourbon and Howard "Red" Bourbon. Don departed this life on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at his residence having reached the age of sixty-nine years, five months and fourteen days.

He was united in marriage to Mary Ross on Saturday, October 4, 1969 in Old Mines, Missouri at St Joachim Catholic Church.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Bourbon of Cadet, Missouri; sons, Donald Jr. and wife, Tina Bourbon of Tumwater, Washington; Jeff and wife, Courtney Bourbon of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; sisters, Jean Eckhoff of Potosi, Missouri; Ruth Ratliff of Springfield, Missouri; Donna Emily of Cadet, Missouri; Nan and husband, Alan Aubuchon of Potosi, Missouri; brothers, Kenneth and wife, Anna Lee Bourbon of Grey, Tennessee; Jimmy and wife, Betty Bourbon of DeSoto, Missouri; Frank and wife, Karen Bourbon of Potosi, Missouri; Vernon and wife, Becky Bourbon of Potosi, Missouri; eight grandchildren: Miranda, Ross, Mark, Erin, Ryan, Conner, Kendall, Kamryn; two great-grandchildren, Mason and Allie; two brothers-in-law, Leon Aubuchon of Cadet, Missouri; Butch Courtway of Caledonia, Missouri; sister-in-law, Peggy Bourbon of Cadet, Missouri; also surviving are many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death his parents, Howard "Red" Bourbon and Gertrude Mary Bourbon; one daughter, Kimberly Adams; three sisters, Martha Aubuchon, Carol Elsey, Connie Courtway; two brothers, Ronald Bourbon Sr. and Howard Bourbon.

Don served in the United States Army in Vietnam. While serving he received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Marksman Badge, Sharpshooter Badge and was honorably discharged.

Don was a parishioner of the St. Joachim Catholic Church and was active in all their activities. He was a member of the V.F.W. and a Member of the Knights of Columbus, Old Mines. Don loved his family and always looked forward to family gatherings. He enjoyed visiting with his friends and watching baseball especially the St. Louis Cardinals. Don’s greatest joy was his kids and grandchildren and the times they shared together. Don will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.

Visitation was held on Sunday, July 2, 2017 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Monday, July 3, 2017 from 8:30 AM until 9:30 AM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.

Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10:00 AM on Monday, July 3, 2017 at St. Joachim Catholic Church in Old Mines, Missouri with Father Tony Dattilo officiating.

4th Degree Knights of Columbus Honor Guard was provided by Sir Knights, Thomas DeGonia, Victor Bender, Jim Robart, Jim Robart, Sr. and Randy Mull on Sunday, July 2, 2017.

Final prayers and burial in the St. Joachim Cemetery in Old Mines, Missouri where Don received full military honors. Serving as pallbearers were: Don Bourbon Jr., Jeff Bourbon, Mark Adams, Ross Politte, Ryan Bourbon and Aaron Ross.

Services were entrusted under the care and direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, MO 63664.
