Obituary for James "Jim" McLeod

James Harold McLeod, 70 , of Missoula, MT passed away on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at Hillside Manor.
He was born on November 13, 1946 in Saint Ignatius to James and Mary (Soucie) McLeod. Jim loved being near the Glorious Mission Mountains as he grew up. As a young man he lived in California and in San Francisco. His people skills and fun loving nature lead to his pursuing a career in Cosmetology of which he was very proud. He was married and enjoyed being a father to his young stepson.
Jim's life journey led him back to the Mission Valley and Missoula area. Staying connected to family was important to him. He loved spending time with nephews, nieces, aunts and being a part of the tribal community. He enjoyed a special relationship later in life with Bonnie Bitner as they lived in the moment sharing laughter and tears.
"Junior" as some family members called him, was active in Adult Mental Health and openly shared his struggle with depression by encouraging and offering hope to those around him with a compassionate listening ear.
Jim had a way of making friends quickly. When he was around, laughter and smiles came quickly and often. He will be missed by his many family members and numerous friends.
Cremation will take place with no formal services planned. A small, private ceremony will welcome Jim back to the Mission Valley and to Mother Earth.
