Condolences

Condolence From: Tammy Deaver
Condolence: To the family of Joan. What a,sweet person she was. We spent time in dialysis together for a year and half and she was always more worried about me than herself. I will cherish those memories forever. RIP my friend.

Condolence From: Denny & Madelyn Banister
Condolence: We are grateful to God for sharing Joan and Ed Elliot with us in our lives. Such selfless people are rare. Madelyn and I were blessed to visit Joan on Sunday, and her smile was ever-present as she focused on us and our lives. She was, and is still, such a dear. I pray we will all be reunited someday.

Condolence: We were very fortunate to have had Joan as my mother's roommate at St. Joseph's Bluff. During our daily visits with Mom we grew to know and love Joan. She always welcomed our large family with a smile. May she now rest in peace.

Condolence From: Cassy and Jerry Venters
Condolence: Joan was one of the first people I met at Grace Episcopal. She was the Epitome of the church's open arms and heart as she greeted all newcomers as if we were her children that had come home. Like so many people before and after us, she brought us into her church and love with her kindnesses and interest in our lives. She'd meet our out-of-town parents and ask about them. My step-dad and mom remembered her and Ed and would ask about them. She forged linkages of love with all. When I was about to marry Jerry and bought my wedding dress, I took it to show her at the house. It seemed the natural thing to share because she was just so much a part of our lives. When Jerry went on the bench as a federal bankruptcy judge, she and Ed were so happy for him. I remember that she brought a raspberry white chocolate cheesecake to a going-away dinner for him. Which reminds me - WOW - her cooking. Everyone loved the cheese grits she brought to church dinners, even people that didn't like grits! Jerry loved her lemon bars above all lemon bars he ever tasted anywhere! I always felt like I knew Carol Ann, Jim and Beth as she spoke so lovingly about all of them and her grandson, Robert. Her graciousness was incredible. Her every interaction was one to support others and lift them up in the world.

Condolence From: Paula Bone
Condolence: Joan was like a second mom to me. She was one of the first to welcome me at church. She always asked about my boys. We shared many heart-to-heart talks.
She leaves a hole in my heart, but I know she's reunited with Ed, which gives me inner joy.
Prayers of comfort to the family.
